Still Picture Submissions

Only digital pictures may be submitted. Photographs must be no larger than 1.5 megabytes (approximately 800x600) or smaller than 400x500 pixels (approximately 600K). The image must be saved in JPG (jpeg) of GIF formats.

To enter a contest, simply browse for a picture on your computer, select it, and complete the entry form. You may enter up to ten pictures per contest.

Video Submissions

Digital video submissions must be either Window Media (AVI) or Quicktime in NTSC format. To enter a contest, simply complete the entry form, browse for, select and upload your digital video, or mail VHS or DVD submissions along with a paper copy of your entry form to : Dog Pix and Flix, 20 Sunnyside #198, Mill Valley, CA 94941

Photographers and videographers retain ownership of all copyrights.

You must certify that you or the photographer holds the copyright to any photographs or videos submitted. Entries will not be accepted without copyright certification. If you are not the photographer, you must have permission from the photographer to enter his or her image in the contest.

By submitting an image to Dog Pix and Flix, you grant Dog Pix and Flix and its parent company, HQ DOG permission to store, display, and use the images, the photographer's name, and information about the picture that you provide on the entry form indefinitely on the Dog Pix and Flix web site and in any advertising or promotional materials for Dog Pix and Flix both printed and on-line.

Photographers must have permission from any recognizable person and from the owners of recognizable animals appearing in the photograph to submit the image and must be able to grant Dog Pix and Flix and HQ Dog the right to display the photograph on the site.

Any image that receives legal challenges for either copyright infringement or insufficient permissions will be removed.

Unless prohibited by local law, there is no age limit restriction on photographers. You may submit as many entries as you like for each contest. You may also submit the same image to multiple contests; however, winning images may not be resubmitted. Employees of HQ DOG or their families and current contest judges are not eligible to enter. All federal, state, provincial, and local laws apply. International prize winners may be responsible for shipping charges, taxes, and import tariffs according to location and/or local laws.

Juried Contests

A guest judge chooses the winners from finalists chosen by a selection committee. The decision of the judge is always final. Winners are notified by e-mail.

Popular Vote Contests

Registered Dog Pix and Flix members choose the winners for the themed contests by a web-based vote for any of the finalists chosen by a selection committee. A member may vote for one picture per day per contest. The votes are displayed on the site as they accumulate.

Picture Archive

Pictures on the site are stored in the site's Dog Pictures Archive and can be accessed through the Search function. From time to time, archived images will appear in special galleries and elsewhere within the site.

My Photo Gallery

Registered users may create a custom gallery page by selecting their favorite images and may change the images in their gallery at any time.

Fame and Fortune

Dog Pix and Flix is a site for people who love pictures of dogs. Members may wish to show a dog picture they found on this site with some of their friends. For this purpose, we will allow them to e-mail certain images. If you are willing to give permission for your image to be shared with others via e-mail, please indicate this on your entry form. This is an opportunity for FAME. There is no fee reimbursement.

We will also be making a limited number of quality products featuring dog images available in our on-line store. If you are willing to have your dog picture used in this way, please select "Tell me about product use opportunities" on your Entry Form. This is an opportunity for FORTUNE (at least a few dollars ) We will pay royalties for images used in this way.

This is a family site. Obscene or offensive images will not be considered. No images, which HQ DOG believes could be upsetting to children or puppies, will be displayed on this site. HQ DOG reserves the sole right to determine appropriate content for DogPixandFlix.com.
